Powder Metal Contacts

At the Hoyt, we are a powder metal contacts supplier that manufactures high-density powder metallurgically produced refractory metal contact materials that set the industry standard for performance. We operate a fully equipped powder metallurgy department housing specialty powder processing and blending equipment, powder presses rated up to 35 tons, and hydrogen-based batch sintering furnaces. Machined-to-size contacts may also be refractory etched and heat cleaned to provide an attachable surface for brazing. With our technical strength in custom-engineered powder mixing, in-house press tool production, and high-temperature sintering, we can meet the most critical composition and dimensional specifications. By leveraging state-of-the-art monitoring and control technologies we can ensure hyper-accurate part weight, density, and structure to ensure conformance to customer specifications.

Hoyt also produces a wide variety of contact components using wrought semi-refractory contact materials such as silver cadmium oxide, silver tin oxide, and silver nickel, as well as, high nobel metal contacts of gold, silver palladium, fine silver and coin silver.

For many applications, we are able to support our in-house production of contact materials with our own copper extrusion facility for the production of specialty shaped hot extruded, cold-drawn copper bar. Hoyt prides itself in our ability to not only produce standard contacts, but our unique ability to fabricate and assemble complete contact assemblies, ready for installation including attachments of braided wire shunts, related components, springs, and hardware.

By combining all of these capabilities, we offer superior quality contact assemblies at low cost with turnaround times significantly faster than the industry average.

Examples of our fully fabricated and assembled component products can be found in circuit breakers, network protectors, automatic transfer switches, load tap changers, industrial switchgear, and vehicle propulsion systems and motor control contactors and relays. We have the production resources to fulfill orders of any size and offer blanket order release and JIT delivery programs.
